Man, this is summer! Shouldn't things slow down? I thought that is what happened if you worked at a school in the summer? I have been working out a lot. It is good to actually be back in shape and instead of dreading feeling tired like I was doing a few months ago I am starting to embrace it. I was mad yesterday when I didn't have enough workout partners. So, I had to make one of the guys stay late just to wrestle with me. I have a lot going on right now but I have decided after 3 years this site needs an upgrade. For you geeks like me! That will mean switching from Joomla to Wordpress. I just think that the nature of that program will let me write more and quicker and also be easier on the users since I have had issues making sure I set permissions correctly in the past. It will also let me do more blogging from my Blackberry. Incase you didn't know it I love the BB for a lot of reasons but the most important is that it frees me from my desk and computer. I stare at teh monitor here so much that each day until about to in the afternoon it is hard to remember there is a world out there that I want to see. I also want to get back to sharing more information on whats going on in my life. I think my life is really tame but god has blessed me with so many great friends and experiences and I think it would be nice to share those. I am also going to start a match of the week feature where registered users can check out a great video of a match. I will ot charge for the videos but because of the cost of video on the internet I need to make sure that the people that want to watch the video and aren't just clicking through. I promise I will keep it simple! So for now it is camps this summer, hashing out the fall training camp and just learning as much as I can to help young people achieve their dreams! On a final note make sure you check out my newest projects. 110MMA.com is a video sharing site directed directly at the MMA market. Basically, my partners and I offer video on demand services and event production to the MMA community. In doing that we are alowing people to upload their own videos and share them with their friends in the same way Youtube does. Now, it is summer, get outside and start running! Tom |

It has really been a long time since I last wrote anything of substance on this site and I am sorry for the delay. I don't intend for this blog to be a news site, MSUWrestling.com and MSUSpartans.com really cover all of that but I do want to share what is going on in my life as a Spartan. I am working on some events coming up and really learning a lot about building them. If I take something away from MSU it is that you can't just coach a team you have to build a program! You have to give back to the community that supports you and to the wrestling world. Next fall I will have my second fall clinic. I am still hammering out the details but I want to feature some great wrestlers and bring in a lot of talented high school athletes. I am also working on building a tournament. I am really excited about both of these but I think that they will really be a great way for me to give back to the sport. When we were in Akron for the University Nationals I saw the Lebron James Basketball Challenge. He has such a large event the entire city is crawling with kids and I would like to be able to build that for wrestling. It is going to take a lot of hard work but it will be worth it. |

I was asked to write a response to a blog post on "The View from Section GG". The blog by Jim Brown is a fan blog that looks at the wrestling world and what is going on in the nations wrestling rooms. Jim hada contest to see who could write an essay that could be used to sell wrestling to athletic directors. While I think that the practical points were dead on, I think that there is a much larger need and that is for wrestling fans to share their sport with other people and bring them into the mix. If done in the correst manner this can definately build the fan base and help the sport grow. Read the post here . |
